So you’ve decided to give therapy a try…YAY!
Unfortunately, that is just the first step. Now you have to find a Counselor who is the right fit for your needs, experiences, personality and finances. Therapy works…all Therapist do not work for you.
Don’t be afraid to interview your Counselor during the consultation. Keep in mind it’s not about if the Counselor has experienced the same events as you but can they empathize? Do they have the availability you need? What’s their therapeutic style? How has some of their strategies helped them personally or people who have similar concerns?
Don’t give up on therapy when the Counselor you’ve tried doesn’t work for you. Think of it like a job…you still need income you just have to find the right source of income for you♥️

It’s the last day of November heading into the last month of the year and I think it’s a great time to share how to set SMART Goals!
🐝 SPECIFIC when creating your goals so they are clear to you and others who can help or hold you accountable.
🐝 MEASURABLE goals can be tracked so you can see your progress and be able to make changes if necessary.
🐝ATTAINABLE goals identify the actions that make them achievable.
🐝REALISTIC goals are also relevant and make sense to your overall purpose.
🐝TIMELY goals give dates or time lines that help with being measurable but also deadlines state when your goal is expected to be completed.

What’s up with people defeating their own dreams, doubting themselves or claiming difficulties as impossible?!
Sounds to me like you could use a bit of hope, faith and belief in....YOURSELF!
Positive affirmations, positive self talk, identifying your skills/talents and looking into the “how” in planning instead of the alternative route.

Substance abuse and addiction doesn’t just have an affect on the user but also their families, especially dependents such as children.
Many children will grow up in unstable home environments with neglect and/or emotionally chaotic parents. Internalizing their parents substance abuse as their fault is an unfortunate risk that can cause dysfunction in the emotional, social and mental development of these children.
Lets remind our future caregivers that it is not their fault!

The goal is to have more confidence than insecurity.
Both are present in us all, just in different forms and severity.
Acknowledge your insecurities and diminish them by working in their opposition.
Focus on your confidence and foster the aspects of it to cultivate its dominance in your presentation inside and out!

Coping Skills!
I’ve used this Grounding Technique with clients and friends who struggle with anxiety.
Grounding exercises are strategies that can help a person manage their negative thoughts, traumatic memories or strong emotions. This technique can help reduce the intense and overwhelming feelings that come with anxiety.

In Georgia I interned at an outpatient behavioral hospital and rotated every 3 months between different age groups we called the 9-12 yr olds our “Middles”
This was an intervention in our Expressive Therapy group called “Broken Crayons Still Color!”
Our groups usually consisted of 5-10 kids and expressive therapy was 1/4 one hr group sessions they had 5 days a week.
EXPRESSIVE THERAPY: Art, music, and dance are forms of creative expression that can help you process and cope with emotional issues, including depression. Expressive therapy goes beyond traditional talk therapy. It focuses on creative outlets as a means of expression. This therapy can be especially helpful for people who find it difficult to talk about their thoughts and emotions.

Yesterday a friend told me about how refreshing it is to hang Eucalyptus under your shower head.
This is how I did it and I’ve taken one shower so far, despite it being said it takes up to 3 showers before you may feel or notice a refreshing feeling, I was a little sore before my shower and this morning I felt less tense and it was easier to wake up!

Eucalyptus can be found in many products, including decongestants, cough suppressants, mouthwash, cosmetics, and muscle rubs.
Some of the compounds in eucalyptus oil provide potential health benefits that include promoting relaxation and clearing nasal congestion.
You can also reap the benefits and joys of eucalyptus by hanging it in your shower. Shower steam helps activate and release eucalyptus oil compounds into the air, allowing you to breathe them in. You can use either fresh or dried leaves for this purpose.
